• What to Expect at Your First Hearing Appointment

Your appointment will last anywhere between 1 to 1 ½ hours.  Your provider will review your history, lifestyle, perform an otoscopic inspection of your ears, and then test your hearing in a sound booth.  If the evaluation reveals that you have hearing loss, the provider will need to determine whether or not you would benefit from wearing hearing instruments.  Not everyone with hearing loss can be helped with hearing aids.  The provider will place some devices in your ears to evaluate how you will do.  It is very helpful to have someone with a familiar voice there during the evaluation process.  If you a friend or family member available be sure to bring them along.

    Hearing Instruments:

No one likes to admit that they need hearing devices but advancements in technology have made the hearing devices of today much more sophisticated and cosmetically appealing than your grandfather’s hearing aid.  We fit and dispense hearing devices from several of the top hearing manufacturers in the world and we will work with you to find the best possible solution for your listening needs as well as your budget.

    Doctors of Audiology:

The audiologist at Associates in Hearing all have their Doctorate in Audiology with at least 8 years of university training in audiology.  So not only are you fit with the best quality hearing devices available on the market but you will also be fit by the most highly trained professionals.  We emphasize the quality of care here at our practice.  All of our audiologists attend continuing education events each year to bring you the most current and excellent care available in the Suburban Philadelphia Region.

Private Practice or Big Box Stores:

At Associates in Hearing, we are a family-owned and family-focused practice, and we recognize that better hearing is an investment for our patients.  You may save a few dollars by going to a retail hearing device store such as those a big box or “one-size-fits-all” stores.  However, poor quality and poor fit hearing devices usually end up sitting in your drawer and not aiding your hearing loss.  We believe hearing healthcare is much more than a transaction.  The professionals at Associates in Hearing will provide you with the best possible care and service throughout your treatment process, and we are always here for you when you need us.  Hearing devices are only as good as the professionals who fit them!
